Hoofddorp-Centrale Library is housed within the Haarlemmermeer Cultuurgebouw cultural centre, which includes a theatre, rock venue and education centre. The Library was, however, designed as a distinct entity, emphasised by its round exterior and single standing seam patinated copper facade. The window frames and interior elements are highlighted in orange, the corporate colour of the Dutch Library service. The internal layout of the Library follows the 'retail concept' seen in other recent libraries in The Netherlands, with themed collections and store-like layout.
