Wall frieze from the tomb of Ramesses VI. Tomb KV9 in Egypt's Valley of the Kings was originally constructed by Pharaoh Ramesses V. He was interred here, but his uncle, Ramesses VI, later reused the tomb as his own. The layout is typical of the 20th dynasty - the Ramesside period. Relief of Seated Akhamenru 664-656 B.C. or longer Kushite Period-Late Period This block came to the Museum before the Egyptian Art Department was founded in 1906, and records of its arrival do not exist. The inscription, however, tells us that it depicts Akhamenru, the Chief Steward of the Divine Wife Shepenwepet II, so it must have originated in his tomb in the Asasif valley. The hole ground into the block suggests it had been removed from the tomb at some point in the past millennia to serve some more mundane purpose. Akhamenru's fine figure is seated on a low backed chair, holding a staff and a folded cloth. He wears a sash and about his neck hangs an amulet that was worn by royalty in the MIddle Kingdom. An affinity for the MIddle Kingdom also influences his hairstyle and dress. He might have faced an offering table or possibly a family member.Over his head appear the ends of three columns including, from right to left, the remains of traditional wish that he should see the sun shi

A fragment of painted wood. 21st Dynasty (1070-945 BC) from a door or coffin. In the middle of the scene is the god Heh kneeing on the sign for gold. He holds up the ankh (life) and the sign for renep (the year). This fast is on a tadpole bade (number 100.000), seated on the knot shen (eternity). The iconography is a clear allegory to the eternal life. In the hieroglyphic text appear the nomen and the praenomen of Amenhotep patron god of the artisans living at Deir el-Wledina, most probably the site of archaeological origin of the Item.

A photograph taken within Tomb KV1, located in the Valley of the Kings in Egypt, used for the burial of Pharaoh Ramesses VII of the Twentieth Dynasty. Although it has been open since antiquity, it was only adequately investigated and cleared by Edwin Brock in 1984 and 1985. The single corridor tomb itself is located in Luxor's West Bank and is small in comparison to other tombs of the twentieth dynasty. Usermaatre Setepenre Meryamun Ramesses VII (also written Ramesses and Ramesses) was the sixth pharaoh of the twentieth dynasty of Ancient Egypt. He reigned from about 1136 to 1129 BC and was the son of Ramesses VI. The decoration within the passageway of the tomb contains illustrations from the Book of Gates, the Book of Caverns as well as the Book of the Earth. The walls of the burial chamber are decorated with extracts from the Book of the Earth.

Limestone dyade of man and wife. Eighteenth Dynasty, about 1350 BC. The elaborate coiffure and pleated costumes worn by the unnamed man and his wife indicate a date in the later part of the Eighteenth Dynasty for this fine dyad. The lack of inscription suggests the pieve was unfinished.

In September 2018, Egypt's Ministry of Antiquities, announced the discovery of an 18th dynasty tomb, in Draa Abul-Naga, a burial site for noblemen on the left bank of the Nile, near the Valley of the Kings. the tomb contains mummies believed to be a goldsmith called Amenemhat, who lived sometime between 1550 B.C. to 1292 B.C. The burial chamber has a niche at one end, which holds a statue of Amenemhat who sits on a chair next to his wife, Amenhotep. The Eighteenth Dynasty dates back to the 13th century BC, a period noted for some of the most well known Pharaohs, including Tutankhamen and Ramses II. The chamber has two burial shafts. In one, archaeologists found sarcophagi and remains dating from the later 21st and 22nd Dynasties. Those included the remains of a woman and her two grown children. She showed signs of bacterial bone disease and cavities. The other shaft contains funerary masks and statues depicting the goldsmith's family. The tomb hoses deteriorated mummies with their skul

Amenhotep II (also spelled Amenephthes and Amenophis) is thought to be the Egyptian pharaoh at the time of the Exodus, the name given to the Biblical event that describes the departures of the Israelites from Egypt. Amenhotep II was the seventh pharaoh of the 18th Dynasty, during the time period now referred to as the New Kingdom. He ruled around 1410 B.C. This wall painting was uncovered in Thebes in Egypt and was copied by the French Orientalist Emile Prisse.

Phoenician ivories from Nimrud 9th-8th centuries BC. These ivories, consisting for the most part of furniture inlays and attachments, were found at Nimrud, and, like the bronze bowls, probably represent tribute or booty taken by the Assyrians during their western campaigns. Given the widespread popularity and distribution of Phoenician ivories, these need not necessarily have come directly from Phoenicia.

Men and women singers, flute-players, harpists, and dancers from the tomb of Ti (also spelled TY). The Mastaba of Ti was discovered by Auguste Mariette in 1865. This grand and detailed private tomb is not only Old Kingdom art at its best but also one of the main sources of knowledge about life in Old Kingdom Egypt. Its owner, Ti, was overseer of the Abu Sir (also spelled Abusir) pyramids and sun temples (among other things) during the 5th dynasty ( c 2465-2323 BC). Ti was a hairdresser to the royalty during the early V Dynasty, as well as controller of the farms and stock that belonged to the royal family. In fact, the superb quality of his tomb is in keeping with his nickname, Ti the Rich. Abusir is the Arab name given to the Greek town of Busiris and the Old Kingdom necropolis in its vicinity. Here you see wall paintings showing men and women singing, playing the flute, and dancing.

The Standard of Ur, Sumerian artifact excavated from what had been the Royal Cemetery in the ancient city of Ur, dates from around 2600 - 2400 BC. Excavated by British archaeologist Sir Leonard Woolley in the 1920s. A hollow wooden box measuring 21.59 x 49.53 cm, inlaid with a mosaic of shell, red limestone and lapis lazuli. It is currently in a reconstructed state. The Standard of Ur has two main panels, War and Peace. Here in Peace a banquet is represented. Attendants parade animals, fish, and other goods (possibly war booty) before seated figures, while a lyre player entertains the throng.
