Ernest Miller Hemingway (July 21, 1899 - July 2, 1961) was an American author and journalist. Officer Held By Russians Returns.Flight Lieutenant John Driver, the Royal Air Force pilot released by the Russians after being held as hostage for the return of a Red Army refugee, today arrived at Liverpool Street Station (London) with his 24-year-old wife Joy by boat train from Harwish. Flight Lt. Driver, who force landed in the Russian zone while flying a Meteor jet plane from England to Germany, was freed by the Russians in Berlin after the British Foreign office refused to barter for his release.
