Task Force later went to Luzon landings.Australia's new responsibility is the mighty Manus Island base in the Pacific, built by the U.S. at a cost of 131 million dollars. The Americans will withdraw from the base and it will be the task of the Australian Government to run it as an outpost of our defence. It had then been mode virtually useless as a military, manufacturing and shipping center. Moving through the smoke pall over the city, American Fortresses followed up a series of blanket bombings by the Allies, and in this raid have nicked out the Howaldstwerke submarine shipyards. Royal Air Force Bomber Command, 1942-1945. Annotated vertical taken during the major night raid on the Renault works at Boulogne-Billancourt, west of the centre of Paris. The largest number of aircraft sent to a single target so far - 235 - were despatched, dropping a record tonnage of bombs. A significant development was the mass use of flares to illuminate the target ('1' and '2'). Smoke and flame from exploding bombs can be seen on the factory ('3'), and also on the Ile St Germain ('4' and '5'). Canadian Pilots Govt Californian Ferry Fight -- A well known sight for the pilots on the flight from ***** to California, is the celebrated meteor crater near Wilson, *****.Officers and men of the Royal Canadian Air Force, stationed at Trenton, Ontario, who are engaged on the "Acceptance and Ferry Flight", are envied by all other crews. The operation is one in which air crews are flown from Trento to the Lockheed plant in California in a Dakota Venere ship, to pick up T-3 twin seat jet air trainers for the Canadian Air Force training programme.
