Dawn Gaspare Diziani Italian This painting crowns the sumptuous, immersive interior of a bedroom that was once part of the Segredo familys palace, which still stands along Venices Grand Canal. Many parts of the palace were dismantled and sold in the early twentieth century, when this room entered The Mets collection. Stuccoists Abbondio Stazio (1633-1745) and Carpoforo Mazzetti Tencalla (1685-1743) probably completed the three-dimensional frame in the 1720s, though Diziani may not have supplied his painting until the 1750s. His allegorical depiction of Dawn was perfectly suited to the rooms function, and her attendant putti echoed the stucco figures that seem to hold the canvas aloft.. Dawn 436203

Kiyevskaya is a station on the Arbatsko-Pokrovskaya line of the Moscow Metro. Opened in 1953, it is lavishly decorated in the quasi-baroque style that predominated in the early 1950s. The square pylons are faced with white Ural marble and elaborately patterned ceramic tile and the plastered ceiling is decorated with a series of frescoes by various artists depicting life in Ukraine. A large mosaic at the end of the platform commemorates the 300th anniversary of the reunification of Russia and Ukraine. The architects were L. V. Lile, V. A. Litvinov, M. F. Markovsky, and V. M. Dobrokovsky.
