New Cable Ship Sails Tomorrow -- The Cable ship "Recorder" at her moorings off Greenwich, from where she shipped her submarine cable.Britain's most modern cable repair ship, the 3,300 ton "Recorder" which is the latest addition to Cable and Wireless Ltd's fleet of 8 cable ships - of which she is the largest and fastest, leaves tomorrow, Thursday, on her postponed maiden voyage. Her first task will be to renew 120 miles of cable between Land's End and Gibraltar, and the new ship will eventually be based at Singapore from where she will help to maintain the 20,000 miles sections in the Far East and Wireless Ltd's 150,000 miles British Commonwealth cable system. Ex Aircraft-Carrier Will Take British Migrants To Australia -- The 12,000-ton Fairsea (pictured here) has been chartered by the Australian Immigration Department to meet the heavy demands of British migrants for passages to Australia.She replaces the Georgic, which has been withdrawn from the British-Australian run.Her first voyage as a British migrant ship will start on December 5, when she leaves Southampton with 1,470 passengers.The Fairsea, a converted U.S. aircraft carrier, underwent a £500,000 refit earlier this year. The newest British destroyer: H.M.S. "Nubian", 1909. 'The new 33-knot destroyer "Nubian" completed her official speed-trials the other day, and has now returned to the yard of Messrs. John I. Thornycroft and Co., at Woolston, Southampton, for completion and commissioning. The contract speed was greatly exceeded during the trials, and it was proved that the consumption of oil fuel at full power was very low. Owing to her increased armament and other details, the "Nubian" displaces about 100 tons more than the first vessel of her kind, built by Messrs. Thornycroft (
