The happy-hoo-down came to London's Mansion house last night when the Fifty-Six-year-old Lord Mayor of London led a square dance during a party there. First the lord Mayor took some lessons from the B.B.C's old time dancing teacher, David Miller. Then, with Lace Ruffles at his wrists and his chain of office round his neck, he led the Lady Mayoress to the centre of the ballroom "honoured his partner" and went swinging away to the scrape of the fiddle and the accordion's wheeze. Afterwards, as he mopped his brow, he said: "It's grand. There should be more of this. We enjoyed ourselves immensely." January 02, 1952.
