Australian Air Pioneer in London - Captain Patrick Gordon Taylor G.C., M.G., one of Australia mos distinguished Commissioner in London, Sir Thomas White at Australia House, Aldwych, London, today (Thursday). Captain Taylor, Australian air communications pioneer, is in Britain to take delivery of a short Sandringham Bermuda class flying boat in which he makes a series of Pacific air tourist cruises this year. In 1951 as captain of a catalina flying boat, Captain Taylor made the first crossing of the South Pacific from Sydney to Valparaiso.He began his flying career as a fighter pilot in the first World War. He Gets A Medal - Eight Years Late -- Sir Thomas White (right) Australian High Commissioner, present the Oswald Watt Medal for 1946 to air vice Marshal D. C. T. Bennett, at Australia house, London, today July 21. The Medal is awarded by the aero club federation of Australia each year for the most outstanding performance by an Australian Aviator during the year. The 1946 award was made to Air Vice Marshal Bennett for his survey flight of the South American Route for British South American Airways, but could not be presented to him at the time because the dies of the original medal were lost and had to be replaced.
