A chart of prisoner markings used in German concentration camps. Dachau, Germany, ca. 1938-1942. Beginning in 1937-1938, the SS created a system of marking prisoners in concentration camps. Sewn onto uniforms, the color-coded badges identified the reason for an individual's incarceration. Red indicated political prisoner, Green : Professional criminals; Blue: forced foreign labour; Purple: Jehovah's witness; Pink: homosexual; Black: workshy or lazy.

Poster of the Biologische Tentoonstelling (Biological Exhibition). As far as is known, Hoytema made only three posters in his life. Of the three, this one - with its soft colours and the charming creatures amid the text - is the most beautiful by far. The critic W.F. Gouwe felt that it is one of those posters people would rather hang indoors, in places affording quiet contemplation; peacefully and in pleasant company’.
