Self-portrait of Rembrandt, Etching at a Window. Rembrandt is hard at work. His concentration is evident as he studies his reflection in the mirror. The artist is drawing what he sees directly onto the copperplate, resting under his hand on a folded cloth. While in earlier self-portraits he dressed up in eccentric costumes, here he portrays himself in a simple hat and jacket, the clothes he normally worked in.

Embroidery; The Artist's Mother. Artist: Georges Seurat (French, Paris 1859-1891 Paris). Dimensions: 12 5/16 x 9 7/16 in. (31.2 x 24.1 cm). Date: 1882-83.This tranquil portrait of the artist's mother, Ernestine Faivre, is a tour de force of modeling in Conté crayon, Seurat's favorite graphic medium. The work is drawn entirely without line in tonal passages of velvety black. Scarce atmospheric light, subtly evoked by lessening pressure on the crayon, illuminates the interior where the woman sews, creating a serene ambiance of quiet domesticity. The abstract beauty achieved in such works earned the praise of fellow artist Paul Signac, who called them "the most beautiful painter's drawings that ever existed.". Portrait of Christiaan Cornelis. Christiaan Cornelis is on a ship. He has his left arm in a Mitella, in his other a sword. Cornelis recovered a chof ship taken by the French on 31 July 1794 to which he had served as a sailor. After Cornelis had reduced the ship, he was rewarded by Admiraal van Kinsbergen with a silver tobacco box. Under the image a caption with regard to his hero.
