Movie Pictures Industry In India: Dungan directs 500 extras (at 15 cents each per day) in a mob scene in front of Mahraja's Palace in Udaipur, North India, for a ***** film "Meera" about famous Hindu queen and poetess of *****. Udaipur is called the city of palaces.According to Ellis R. Dungan, the only American among the over 200 film producers and director in India, the technical quality of motion pictures in India is on a surprisingly high level. India ranks third, after U.S.A. and U.S.S.R. in consumption of raw film and employs about 70,000 people in production, distribution, exhibition, publicity, etc. Due to the quantity of produced in several vernaculars and their use is restricted to specific areas. Most widely used are Hindi, Bengali, Tamil and Telugu. Indian film standards are different from American and European. Acting and dialogue are less important than good and plentiful singing. The Imperial City (Vietnamese: Kinh thanh Hue) in Hue is a walled fortress and palace in the former capital of Vietnam. The grounds of the Imperial City were surrounded by a wall 2 kilometers by 2 kilometers, and the walls were surrounded by a moat. The water from the moat was taken from the Song Huong (Perfume River) that flows through Hue. This structure is called the citadel. Inside the citadel is the Imperial City, with a perimeter of almost 2.5 kilometers. Inside the Imperial City is the imperial enclosure called the Purple Forbidden City in Vietnamese, a term which follows that used by the Chinese for their own Forbidden City. The enclosure was reserved for the Nguyen imperial family.

Huế originally rose to prominence as the capital of the Nguyễn Lords, a feudal dynasty which dominated much of southern Vietnam from the 17th to the 19th century. In 1775 when Trịnh Sm captured it, it was known as Phú Xun. In 1802, Nguyễn Phúc Ánh (later Emperor Gia Long) succeeded in establishing his control over the whole of Vietnam, thereby making Huế the national capital. Huế was the national capital until 1945, when Emperor Bảo Đại abdicated and a communist government was established in Hà Nội (Hanoi), in the north. While Bảo Đại was briefly proclaimed 'Head of State' with the help of the returning French colonialists in 1949 (although without recognition from the communists and the full acceptance of the Vietnamese people), his new capital was Sài Gòn (Saigon), in the south.

Cambodia: Keo Meas (1926 - 1976) was a Cambodian communist politician and a leading figure within the United Issarak Front. He worked closely with Hanoi; but this made him an object of suspicion to Pol Pot and Nuon Chea. In 1975; shortly after the Khmer Rouge victory; he was taken to Tuol Sleng where he was presumably executed on Pol Pot's orders. The Khmer Rouge, or Communist Party of Kampuchea, ruled Cambodia from 1975 to 1979, led by Pol Pot, Nuon Chea, Ieng Sary, Son Sen and Khieu Samphan. It is remembered primarily for its brutality and policy of social engineering which resulted in millions of deaths. Its attempts at agricultural reform led to widespread famine, while its insistence on absolute self-sufficiency, even in the supply of medicine, led to the deaths of thousands from treatable diseases (such as malaria). Brutal and arbitrary executions and torture carried out by its cadres against perceived subversive elements, or during purges of its own ranks between 1976 and 1978,

The Kathin Ceremony is one of the main merit-making festivals in Thailand, Cambodia and Laos. The ceremony is about offering new robes to the monks who live in the Buddhist temples. The full name of this festival is 'Thot Kathin'. The meaning of the word 'Thot' is to make an offering to a monk, and the word 'Kathin' indicates an embroidery frame. The Kathin ceremony is held at the end of the rainy season in September when laypersons offer clothes, money, kitchen equipment and other tools to monks.

The practice of Christianity in Korea revolves around two of its largest branches, Protestantism and Catholicism, accounting for 8.6 million and 5.3 million members respectively. Roman Catholicism was first introduced during the late Joseon Dynasty period. In 1603, Yi Gwang-jeong, Korean diplomat, returned from Beijing carrying several theological books written by Matteo Ricci, a Jesuit missionary to China. He began disseminating the information in the books and the first seeds of Christianity were sown. In 1758 King Yeongjo of Joseon officially outlawed Catholicism as an evil practice. Roman Catholicism was again introduced in 1785 by Yi Seung-hun. Korean Christians were subject to persecution and hardship. Many were martyred, especially during the Catholic Persecution of 1801 and later. The Joseon Dynasty saw the new religion as a subversive influence and persecuted its earliest followers in Korea, culminating in the Catholic Persecution of 1866, in which 8,000 Catholics across the c

Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi (2 October 1869 - 30 January 1948) was the pre-eminent political and ideological leader of India during the Indian independence movement. He pioneered satyagraha. This is defined as resistance to tyranny through mass civil disobedience, a philosophy firmly founded upon ahimsa, or total non-violence. This concept helped India gain independence and inspired movements for civil rights and freedom across the world. Gandhi is often referred to as Mahatma Gandhi or 'Great Soul', an honorific first applied to him by Rabindranath Tagore. In India he is also called Bapu (Gujarati: 'Father') and officially honored in India as the Father of the Nation. His birthday, 2 October, is commemorated as Gandhi Jayanti, a national holiday, and worldwide as the International Day of Non-Violence. Gandhi was assassinated on 30 January 1948 by Nathuram Godse, a Hindu Nationalist.
