Pierre Eugene Marcellin Berthelot (1827-1907) French organic chemist and politician. Berthelot worked on explosives and dyes, and proved that hydrocarbons and other organic compounds can be synthesised from inorganic materials. He was one of the founders of thermochemistry. Amzi Clarence Dixon (July 6, 1854 - June 14, 1925) was a Baptist pastor, Bible expositor, and evangelist, popular during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. With R.A. Torrey he edited an influential series of essays, published as The Fundamentals (1910-15), which gave fundamentalist Christianity its name.

Frank James, c. 1898, rode and robbed with his brother, outlaw Jesse James from 1868 to 1876. Five months after Jesse was killed in April 1882, Frank turned himself in and was treated generously, spending a year in jail before his trial and acquittal (BSLOC_2018_1_162)
