The Polish Army in the Norwegian Campaign, 1940 Men of the Polish Independent Podhalan Rifles Brigade aboard a Norwegian coastal steamer during the campaign in Norway. The men on deck are taking orders from an officer, a lieutenant, who is seated right foreground. When the boat was sunk a few minutes later, the lieutenant was drowned, but most of the men were saved.

The Royal Navy during the Second World War LCT arriving and discharging much needed supplies for the advancing Allied armies at the port of Civitavecchia, 40 miles north of Rome in Italy. 96 hours after their arrival at the wrecked port, the officers of the port clearance party were guiding in a fleet of Allied landing craft past 46 wrecks in the harbour.

Swan-Upping Begins On The Thames -- A woman assistant of the King's Swan Master being handed a cygnet to determine the ownership. The Royal flag identifying the King's Swan Master is flying from the boat. Wearing traditional uniform the Turk brothers have started to mark all the swans between Putney Bridge and Thames Ditton. Afterwards they will attend to the swans in the upper reaches of the Thames. The brother are - Mr. Fred Turk (The King's Swans Master): Mr. Richard Turk, who looks after they Vintners' Company's Swans and Mr. Herbert Turk who looks after the Swans of the Dyers' Company. Between them they will mark between 500 and 600 adult birds and decide the ownership of all the cygnets hatched since last year, and these belonging to the Companies will be marked by nicks in the beak. Detachment 101, an enigmatic Allied intelligence and special operations unit during World War II, played a pivotal role in the Burmese theater. Operating deep in the jungles of Burma, their mission was multi-faceted, encompassing guerrilla warfare, espionage, and sabotage against Japanese forces. Comprising a diverse group of individuals, from OSS agents to indigenous fighters, they effectively disrupted Japanese supply lines, gathered critical intelligence, and supported resistance movements.

The 1948 Palestinian exodus, known in Arabic as the Nakba (Arabic: النكبة‎, an-Nakbah, lit.'catastrophe'), occurred when more than 700,000 Palestinian Arabs fled or were expelled from their homes, during the 1947-1948 Civil War in Mandatory Palestine and the 1948 Arab-Israeli War. The exact number of refugees is a matter of dispute, but around 80 percent of the Arab inhabitants of what became Israel (50 percent of the Arab total of Mandatory Palestine) left or were expelled from their homes. Later in the war, Palestinians were forcibly expelled as part of 'Plan Dalet' in a policy of 'ethnic cleansing'.
