US troops from the 49th Infantry Regiment are seen disembarking from the White Star liner Belgic at Hoboken, NJ on January 16, 1919. The ship arrived from Brest, France with 3188 troops, mostly from New York state draft contingents. The photo was taken from the bridge of the ship.

The image shows Captain Harry A. Sabastion, the commanding officer of Co. D, 320th Regt. Inf. 80th Div. in Saulty, France, in October 1918. Captain Sabastion's company had experienced significant casualties, including the loss of a lieutenant, two corporals, and two sergeants on July 27, 1918, as well as two privates killed and three wounded on August 8. This company had the highest casualty count in the 60th Div. The photograph was taken by Sgt. Morper.

Lieutenant Colonel Edward E. Kelly, Divisional Signal Officer of the 80th Division, is seen batting flies at Le Neufour in Meuse, France. A former player with the Baltimore Orioles, Kelly was known as Mike Kelly. The 80th Division was initially made up of troops from Virginia, Maryland, and Washington D.C. It was trained at Camp Lee in Petersburg, Virginia.

The image depicts Sgt. Marshall setting up an observation post on hill 240 during World War One. The post was established by the 18th Infantry, 1st Division, to observe artillery action on hill 278 in Exermont, Ardennes, France. The photograph was taken on October 11, 1918, and received on November 25, 1918.

This image shows the arrival of King Sumber of Italy at the Avenue du Bois de Boulogne railway station in Paris, France, on December 18, 1918. He is accompanied by President Poincare of France, and they are heading to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The photograph was taken by Lieutenant Jackson on February 10, 1919, and it is from the collection of American military activities during World War One.

Sergeant P.A. Marshall captured this photograph (111-SC-22531) on August 22, 1918. It shows the aftermath of a German bomb explosion that occurred the previous night in Baccarat, France, between 9 and 10 PM. The bomb hit the cornice of a building, then exploded in the air, resulting in the deaths of four men and five horses. Pieces of the bomb are visible in the image. Private Raymond R. Smith from Company B, 112th Field Signal Battalion of the 37th Division witnessed his comrade's death in the stable door, just ten feet away, but fortunately escaped unhurt. The date the image was passed by the A.E.P. censor is unknown. (50 words)
