Operation Minuteman, the nationwide test alert of the Army and Air National Guard was touched off by Major General Edgar C. Erickson, chief of the National Guard Bureau, who is shown here advising the chiefs of The Army and Air Force Divisions of the Bureau, (Major General William H. Wilson, U.S. Air Force) that word has been flashed to the States and territories alerting more than 350,000 members of Army and Air National Guard Units. Farewell of the Fuehrer from General Ludendorff.On 22nd December the state-obsequies of the great German General took place in Munich. Belgian Ambassador's Funeral Service In Westminster Cathedral -- M. Spaak (centre) and Sir Philip Noel-Baker (far side) in the funeral procession to Westminster Cathedral, London. By Command of H.M. The King, military honours were accorded at the funeral of the Belgian Ambassador, Baron Cartier de Marchienne, in London. The coffin was conveyed on a gun-carriage from his residence in Belgrave Square to Westminster Cathedral, with an escort of Household Cavalry and Foot Guards. The body was interred later in Brookwood Cemetary. M. Spaak, Belgian Foreign Minister flew to England to attend the funeral. May 15, 1946.

There are many photographs of Eva, her sisters and their children, Herta Schneider and her children, as well as photographs of Eva's vacations, family members and friends. Included also are photographs taken by and of Eva Braun at Hitler's chalet Berghof (or Kehlstein), photographs of Hitler and his entourage, visitors to Berghof and the scenery around Berchtesgaden, and some studio portraits of Eva and members of her family.

Adolf Hitler visits the Blohm & Voss the shipbuilding and engineering works. The company built aircraft through Hamburger Flugzeugbau before and during World War II. Germany's rearmament in violation of the Versailles Treaty meant a big change in fortune for the company, run then by brothers Rudolf and Walther Blohm, which was taken out of a deep crisis. From July 1944 to April 1945 the company used inmates of its own concentration sub camp at its shipyard in Hamburg-Steinwerder, a sub camp of Neuengamme concentration camp.

Hungarian War Criminals Arrive For Their Trials -- A Hungarian policeman places handcuffs on Ferenc Szalasi on leaving the plane at Matyasfold Airport, Budapest October 5. Extreme right, is Gador Peter, Head of the Hungarian police. Soldier right of Szalasi is Sgt. John Nenecz, Cleveland, Andleft, Sgt. Alex Hrabovsky, Newark, *****.Many of Hungary's Top-Ranking war criminals who were arrested by the Americans in Austria, arrived in Budapest October 5, and were turned over to the Hungarian Government in readiness for their trials. Immediately on arrival at the Budapest Airfield. They were handcuffed and lodged in solitary prison cells in a building where ex-premier Ferenc Szalasi once tortured political prisoners. The municipal theatre in Budapest will be the scene of the trials scheduled to commence towards the end of this month. October 16, 1945.

George Catlett Marshall Jr. GCB (December 31, 1880 - October 16, 1959) was an American soldier and statesman. He rose through the United States Army to become Chief of Staff under presidents Franklin D. Roosevelt and Harry S. Truman, then served as Secretary of State and Secretary of Defense under Truman.

Adolf Hitler (20 April 1889 - 30 April 1945) was an Austrian-born German politician who was the dictator of Germany from 1933 until his death in 1945. He rose to power as the leader of the Nazi Party, becoming the chancellor in 1933 and then assuming the title of Fuhrer und Reichskanzler in 1934. During his dictatorship, he initiated World War II in Europe by invading Poland on 1 September 1939. He was closely involved in military operations throughout the war and was central to the perpetration of the Holocaust, the genocide of about six million Jews and millions of other victims.
