The 1956 Hungarian Uprising. Soviet trucks and tanks withdraw from downtown Budapest on Nov. 1, 1956. Hungarians were told by the Russians that needed two to three weeks to complete their withdrawal. On November 4th, Soviet tanks returned to restore order, brutality suppressing the revolt.

Woman Leaps Into Firemen's Net From Third-Story Ledge -- Firemen get a net under Mrs. Helen Schwandt as she leaps from a foot-wide, third story ledge outside her apartment early today. Her husband, Edward C. Schwandt, said she was trying to escape from policemen.
