"The Fight" Will Be Big Night At Rye - Viking shields are being affixed to the at Percy Jompson's boathouse at Rye, to give an added touch of realism. A 20 ft. long boat, newly rigged with dummy masts and adapted to look like an old-time Viking vessel, is to be burned at Rye, Sussex, recreation ground on Nov 5. This traditional ceremony dates from the time when pirate ships attacking the old Cinque Ports were captured and burned by the inhabitants.
