History of banditry. Catalonia, 19th century. On 20 January 1849, bandits, whose leader was the "Coix d'Avià", entered the church of Montmajor (Berguedà region) while the rector was in the confessional. After burning his face with a lit candle, they stole money and silver objects. The "Coix d'Avià" was a bandit from the village of Avià who, together with his gang, committed crimes in the Berguedà region in the mid-19th century.
