Tour de France, July 1932, held between July 6 and 31. 80 runners participated and competed in 21 stages, with a total of 4,520 kilometers. In the image, the first stage Paris - Caen; runners pass through Mantes.

As part of the Sportweek, in connection with the anniversary parties of the Utrecht University, the Athletics Festival was held last week at the Galgenwaard sports field that was attended, among other things, by the Commissioner of the Queen Mr.dr. Bosch, Knight of Rosenthal. Also the representatives of the Senate of the U.S.C. were among the spectators.

The image depicts a scene from the the 1908 Olympics held in London. The marathon was watched by 80,000 spectators, including Queen Alexandra, who witnessed the collapse of the leading competitor only metres away from the finish line. Dorando Pietri, from Italy, fell several times before completing the race. He managed to finish the race in first position but had to be disqualified as he had needed assistance from the officials and the medal was awarded to the American, Johnny Hayes. Since Dora
