Tomb Construction in Egypt's Old Kingdom: This shows a cross-section of a tomb from the 6th Dynasty. The arrow points to the burial chamber. The German words 'gewolbter Gang' translate as 'arched passage.' The 'schacht' area is the shaft section. The diagram at the bottom is the ground layout of the tomb.The site is Dendera, near Luxor, and the illustration is according to the British archaeologist Sir Flinders Petrie.
