Market Gardeners get Off Together -- The Littleton and Padsey Ltd., is an Organisation of market-gardeners in the Evesham district of Worcestershire. In this fertile valley, vegetables, fruit and flowers are grown under a system of market-gardens, of an average size of five acres. The market-gardener and his family usually provide the entire labour force. Nearly forty years ago several market-gardeners in Evesham formed their product because the society buys in bulk at wholesale prices members can obtain their seeds. Fertilisers and implements cheaper and because the society sells in bulk in the buyers, grower tend to receive better prices and a Steadlier demand. September 15, 1949.
