CARAT/MAREX Indonesia is a bilateral exercise between Indonesia and the United States designed to promote regional security cooperation, maintain and strengthen maritime partnerships, and enhance maritime interoperability. In its 28th year, the CARAT series is comprised of multinational exercises, designed to enhance U.S. and partner navies abilities to operate together in response to traditional and non-traditional maritime security challenges in the Indo-Pacific region. Under Commander, U.S. Pacific Fleet, 7th Fleet is the U.S. Navys largest forward-deployed numbered fleet, and routinely interacts and operates with 35 maritime nations in preserving a free and open Indo-Pacific region.

The Eighth Army Band performs at the Gyeryong World Military Culture Expo in Gyeryong, South Korea, Oct. 8. Eighth Army Soldiers, civilians and family members were invited to the expos family day. The exposition features static displays of ROK military equipment from all branches along with Eighth Army military vehicles. ANNAPOLIS, Md. (May 20, 2020) The U.S. Navy Flight Demonstration Squadron, the Blue Angels, fly over Bancroft Hall as midshipmen toss their covers concluding the fifth swearing-in event for the U.S. Naval Academy Class of 2020. The Class of 2020 graduated approximately 1,000 midshipmen during five swearing-in events and one virtual ceremony. The hat toss, now a traditional ending to the event, originated at the Naval Academy in 1912 as a symbolic and visual end to the four-year program. As the undergraduate college of our country's naval service, the Naval Academy prepares young men and women to become professional officers of competence, character, and compassion in the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps.

Nelson received the Silver Star Medal for his conspicuous gallantry and uncommon heroism while under fire which were in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service and reflect great credit upon himself, the 3rd ID and the U.S. Army. The 3rd ID also inducted Nelson into the Marne Hall of Fame class of 2022.

YOKOSUKA, Japan (Dec. 13, 2022) Command Master Chief Robert Beachy, assigned to Commander, Fleet Activities Yokosuka (CFAY) hands out a Japanese daikon radish to a pedestrian at Yokosuka Chuo Station during an event raising awareness of drunk driving during the holiday season. Daikon is a play on words as it is close to the Japanese word daikonzetsu, meaning eradication (of drunk driving). For more than 75 years, CFAY has provided, maintained, and operated base facilities and services in support of the U.S. 7th Fleets forward deployed naval forces, tenant commands, and thousands of military and civilian personnel and their families.

The cemetery includes a large urn containing the ashes of 335 Sailors, Soldiers, and Airmen from the United States, the British Commonwealth, and the Kingdom of the Netherlands who died as POWs in Japan. The ceremony is sponsored by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Commander, Navy Region Japan, bringing families of U.S. prisoners of war to Japan for a week-long reconciliation tour.
