Hua Guofeng (1921 - 2008) Chinese politician who served as Chairman of the Communist Party of China and Premier of the People's Republic of China. Hua held the top offices of the government, party, and the military after Premier Zhou and Chairman Mao's death, but was forced out of major political power by more influential party leaders by June 1981 and subsequently retreated from the political scene.

During the second day of the Global Sentinel 2022 (GS22) capstone event at Vandenberg Space Force Base, Calif., space operators worked through notional scenarios threatening the space domain. The event is collaborative and provides participants from25 allied and partner nations the opportunity to organize into their own Space Operations Centers to practice plans, response mechanisms and recovery tactics. Global Sentinel is U.S. Space Command's premier security cooperation effort, designed to strengthen and grow internal partnerships, improve operational collaboration and promote responsible behavior in the space domain. JOINT BASE PEARL HARBOR-HICKAM (December 8, 2022) Mr. Yutaka Aoki, Consul General of Japan, and Rear Adm. The 7th annual Lives Remembered: A Tribute to the Fallen of Pearl Harbor is a Joint Japan - U.S. ceremony co-hosted by Commander Navy Region Hawaii and the Consulate General of Japan in Honolulu will be held at the Banyan Tree on Ford Island, Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam. The first ceremony was held in 2016, the 75th anniversary of the Pearl Harbor attack, and coincided with the Japan and United States heads of state visiting the Arizona Memorial together. The ceremony honors all who lost their lives in the Pearl Harbor attack and is a symbol of reconcilitation and friendship between Japan and the United States.

The May 16 coup was a military coup d'état in South Korea in 1961, organized and carried out by Park Chung-hee and his allies who formed the Military Revolutionary Committee, nominally led by Army Chief of Staff Chang Do-yong after the latter's acquiescence on the day of the coup. The coup rendered powerless the democratically elected government of Yun Bo-seon and ended the Second Republic, installing a reformist military Supreme Council for National Reconstruction effectively led by Park, who took over as Chairman after General Chang's arrest in July. The coup was instrumental in bringing to power a new developmentalist elite and in laying the foundations for the rapid industrialization of South Korea under Park's leadership, but its legacy is controversial for the suppression of democracy and civil liberties it entailed, and the purges enacted in its wake.

The United Wa State Army, also known as the UWSP (United Wa State Party) or Red Wa is an ethnic minority army of an estimated 30,000 Wa soldiers of Myanmar's Special Region No. 2 led by Bao Youxiang. The UWSA is the military wing of the United Wa State Party (UWSP), and was formed after the collapse of the Communist Party of Burma (CPB) in 1989. The UWSA was founded and led by Chao Ngi Lai (1939-2009) and later Bao Youxiang.
