American War ***** Of Japanese Descent Joins Legion -- Harley M. Oka (left), 28, an American of Japanese descent honorably discharged from the U.S. Army in December, 1944, is congratulated by commander William F. Schneider after joining the American Legion, an organization of U.S. war veterans. The ceremony took place in Hollywood, in the U.S. Pacific coast state of California. Oka was a member of the U.S. 100th Infantry Battalion, composed largely of Americans of Japanese descent which fought in Italy and is now in action in France.
