Re-construction of a Mirror room, based on Manuscript Bt folio 28 r. by Leonardo da Vinci. In his "Treatise on Painting", Leonardo da Vinci said that "The mirror is the master of painters* and that The mind of a painter should be like a mirror. For this reason, this reconstruction of The Mirror Room that he artist drew during his first Milanese period - around 1487 - naturally finds its place in the context or studies on optics. By experimenting with the so-called "multiple reflection", Leonardo created this room with 8 walls of mirrors so as to observe an object without having to turn it round. In this way not only did he begin to learn about the secrets of the simplest optical illusions, he also started to analyse the interaction between light and shadow and the visual processes which then led him to study the anatomical structure of the eye.
