This item is a photograph depicting the USS Hambleton after being repaired and converted from a destroyer (DD-455) to a high-speed minesweeper (DMS-20) by Boston Navy Yard. On November 11, 1942, Hambleton sustained damage from torpedo attack by German submarine U-173 in French Morocco, necessitating repairs. Seized by the Royal Navy in July 1940 and renamed HMS Dielette. Collided with Chasseur 11 on 9 August 1942 and took part in the Dieppe raid on 19 August 1942. Transferred to the Free French Navy in December 1942. Collided with Chasseur 10 on 4 January 1943. Took part in operations against pockets of German resistance at the mouth of the Gironde April 1945. Visited Jersey August 1945.
