Scene from a sainives. On a ground, five men stand for a facade wall, which overlooks at a gallery of three arcades, on which a roof (). From the gallery see four men on them, from whom only the upper body is visible. Downstairs from left to right: a soldier, who takes a man-looking at him to him and leads to him, then a second soldier, who holds a man with him at the right arm. The latter is opposite a pontifically dressed figure that has laid his left hand against the left arm of the man who holds a Schromprol () In his hand. The Virgin and Child Attended by Angels ca 1600 Attributed to Manohar The Virgin Mary and infant Jesus, seated on a floral carpet, are honored with an offering of a plate of fruit, visible in the foreground, consistent with the Hindu devotional practice of prasad (offering). They are attended by three angels, one bearing a gold censer and another with a Chinese-style blue-and-white porcelain bowl decorated with geese. Their feathery bodies and faces resemble those of the peris, or fairies, of Indo-Islamic painting. This hybridity of style and cultural reference is a hallmark of Mughal painting at the turn of the sixteenth century, when European influences in subject matter and technique were being absorbed by court artists such as Manohar. The outer scenes of the Crucifixion and the Resurrection are executed in translucent enamel with details in opaque enamel, while the inner scenes of the Annunciation and the Nativity are in the form of cast reliefs. The diptych generally has been attributed to either a Parisian or a Cologne workshop, but a more precise localization is made difficult not only by the mobility of artists and the resultant transmission of styles, but also by the palpable stylistic differences between the outer and inner wings.
