Static-free broadcasting - known as frequency modulation is being rapidly extended and developed in the U.S.A., where 500 cities of 47 State will soon be able to avail themselves of the service. Construction of new stations, coupled with improved technical advances, will bring the new service within reach of million of new listeners. Polymer Corporation Plant -- Dangerous work this! But the masked welder doesn't care. He's one of a crow working on great, curved shaped sheets of tough steel which, when pieced together, form storage spheres at Canada's synthetic rubber plant near Sarnia, Ontario. Each sphere is being made big enough to hold 12,000 barrels of the precious hydrocarbons derived from cracked, crude oil. Exactly 51 feet in diameter, it urn contain he hydrocarbons at a pressure of 50 pounds per square inch. In obedience to nature's laws the engineers designed it as a sphere to keep to a minimum the amount of steel required. May 01, 1944.

Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC) workers hoist a dynamic test version of the S-IVB stage, the Saturn IB launch vehicle's second stage, into the Center's Dynamic Test Stand on January 18, 1965. MSFC Test Laboratory persornel assembled a complete Saturn IB to test the launch vehicle's structural soundness. Developed by the MSFC as an interim vehicle in MSFC's building block approach to the Saturn rocket development, the Saturn IB utilized Saturn I technology to further develop and refine the larger boosters and the Apollo spacecraft capabilities required for the manned lunar missions.
