Blue-Bottles during the week-end stung some bathers so severely that a doctor had to inject morphia. - Diagrams show: (1) Blue-bottle as it floats. (2) One of many cysts attached to the tentacles.The upright spike is not a sling but a trigger which releases a severe irritant poison when it contacts with anything. (3) Two barbed cyst at top of each lentacle. These barbs are charged with more irritating poison than that in the cyst with the trigger: and patients who had to have morphia were probably stung by thses barbs. January 09, 1933.
