Coast Guardsmen Provide Blood for Saipan Casualties. Insuring a ready supply of whole blood for Marine invaders of Saipan, Coast Guardsmen set up a blood bank aboard a Coast Guard-manned attack transport just before the assault on the Japanese island stronghold. Pictured here is Coast Guardsman Albert W. Dill, chief storekeeper, of Mansfield, Mass., a veteran of several Pacific invasions, makes a contribution. Public Health surgeon Paul A. "I Can Cure Cancer" Healer or humbug PIX presents the facts about John Braund, a story as yet unfinished .. . John Braund claims he can cure cancer. A 78-year-old J layman of Beverly Hills, Sydney, he has become the centre " of world-wide controversy. The BMA is sceptical of his claims to success where the world's greatest doctors have failed. His technique has been called "clumsy, unhygienic." When his case was brought to light, patients he claims to have cured rushed to his support. A Sydney businessman offered him £20,000 to set up a clinic and a Government committee was formed to investigate his claims. December 12, 1952.
