One Step Nearer to Safety. With Lieut. Walter Bolton, USCG, at the controls, the Coast Guard helicopter has just arrived at Wolf Lake, bringing one more survivor from the scene of the Belgian airliner disaster of September 18, 1946. From this point on Wolf Lake, a waiting Coast Guard PBY will fly the injured woman to Gander Field, where hospitalization and renewed hope are waiting. The "Miracle Rescue at Gander" was signalized throughout with smoothness of coordinated effort between the ground rescue team, headed by Captain Samuel Martin of the Army Medical Corps and the various aviation personnel of the Coast Guard who flew the helicopters and the PBY's in and out of the Newfoundland wilds.
