A wall adorned with a variety of signs catches including a prominent "Polling Station" sign to advises people where to vote in an election. But the most striking of all is the bright yellow and green defibrillator machine in a box, a reminder that emergencies can happen anywhere and at any time.The elections are for district councils, unitary authorities, and directly-elected mayors in England.The elections are the first under new voter identification laws which requires voters show photo ID when voting. These new laws were controversial due to accusations they could prevent some people voting.
