Navy's 'Hurricane Hunters,' pictures above with their Super Constellation rader plane, make first visit to Boston from home base in Puerto Rico. Since 1943 'Hurricane Hunters,' based in Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean areas, have been seeking out storms. By use of radar, hunters detect disturbances such as hurricane eye shown at left. Inside the hunter, radar operator Benjamin T. Malone demonstrates equipment to American Airlines stewardess Gail Arbing and Miss Charlene Marcil, bottom left. At bottom right, radio operator Al Cecchini shows Miss Arbing the intricacies of the plane's weather detecting system. 'Hurricane Hunters' are part of the Navy's early warning squadron.
