Modes et manières d'Aujourd'hui, 1922, pl. 2: Piano et Chant. Two women whose piano plays and sings the other. Above the piano hangs a mirror in which the singing woman can be seen. She has fixed the sheet music by Darius Milhaud with two hands on the back. On the piano is a violin. The print is part of a series of 12 woodcuts by Fernand Siméon, with texts by Paul Valery, for the seventh part (10th Année 1922) of Modes et manières d'Aujourd'hui. Each edition had a circulation of only 300 pieces and was exclusively devoted to one artist who designed 12 prints around a certain theme. In this series the 'life of the fashionable woman in society is central.
