Costume design by Benois, for the Russian Ballet 'Petrushka' 1910-11. The Ballet was composed by Igor Stravinsky. Michel Fokine choreographed the ballet; Benois designed the sets and costumes. Petrushka was first performed by Sergei Diaghilev's Ballets Russes at the Theatre du Chatelet in Paris on 13 June 1911. Alexandre Nikolayevich Benois (1870 - 1960) was a Russian artist, art critic, historian, preservationist, and founding member of Mir iskusstva (World of Art), an art movement and magazine.

Georges Duplessis (1834-1899) was curator of the Prints department at the Bibliotheque nationale. Edmond Lechevallier-Chevignard (1825-1902) was an artist, book illustrator, and interior designer for many public buildings and churches. He was named professor at the National School of Decorative Arts in 1874.
