At Eternity's Gate November 2627, 1882 Vincent van Gogh Lithography fascinated Van Gogh early in his career, but he made very few prints due to financial constraints. "At Eternity’s Gate" is one of the very rare survivals of his first printmaking campaign during which he produced six lithographs in November 1882. His ambition was to publish a series of thirty prints in order disseminate his work to a broad audience and to earn the attention of magazine editors in the hope of receiving commissions as an illustrator. This print stands out among the group for the spiritual weight the artist attached to it, evoked by the combination of the title with the despairing pose of the model. It remained meaningful to him throughout his career: he brought an impression with him to Paris and went to the trouble of having it framed. Then, in 1890 while in the asylum in Saint-Rémy, he made a painting based on the print (Kröller-Müller Museum). It is the only one of his prints that he copied in oil..

A Woman Cooking, Plate 3 from Five Feminine Occupations ca. 1640-57 Geertruydt Roghman Dutch Roghman, from an Amsterdam family of artists, is known for some reproductive prints and her original suite of five engravings, "Household Tasks": sewing, spinning, reading (), cooking (illustrated here), and cleaning cookware. The two subjects set in kitchens are unusual in that the solitary maids are seen from behind. Each print presents a sober view of domestic work, but the kitchen scenes are remarkable for the figures' complete lack of individuality, to say nothing of appeal. In comparing Roghman's images of household servants with those of Dou and Vermeer, it is tempting to distinguish male and female points of view (as some critics have rather emphatically). Whatever the interpretation, it is important to bear in mind that Roghman's prints were intended for a broad art market, whereas Dou's famously expensive paintings (as opposed to the later prints after them) and The Milkmaid by Verme
