The Grandchildren of Sir William Heathcote, 3rd Baronet William Owen British Owen was a contemporary and rival of Sir Thomas Lawrence. The Heathcote portrait employs an unusual conceit, showing the grandchildren of a wealthy baronet dressed as cottage children. The sheaves of wheat allude to the harvest. Portrait of Robert Muys and his Wife Maria Nozeman. Rotterdam artist Nicolaes Muys portrayed his brother Robert, an engraver, with his wife Maria in the year they were married. Maria plies needle and thread with a silver thimble. Robert is showing one of his own prints of a scene from a play performed in the local theatre in 1778. The silver tea urn on the table reflects the latest fashion.

The early 1900s caption reads: "Marie Antoinette and her Children - at Versailles. The last portrait that Vigee Le Brun painted of the doomed queen was the canvas that hangs at Versailles known as "Marie Antoinette and Her Childrem" in which the queen is seen seated beside a cradle with the baby Duke of Normandy on her knee, the little Madame royale at her side, and the small Dauphin pointing into the cradle. When the doors of the Salon of 1788 were thrown open, the painting was not quite finished and for some days the frame reserved for it remained empty. The Hatch Family. Artist: Eastman Johnson (American, Lovell, Maine 1824-1906 New York). Dimensions: 48 x 73 3/8 in. (121.9 x 186.4 cm). Date: 1870-71.Alfrederick Smith Hatch (1829-1904) was a prominent Wall Street broker in the firm of Fisk and Hatch and president of the New York Stock Exchange from 1883 to 1884. Like many of his business associates, he was an enthusiastic collector of art. One of the finest paintings in his collection was this commissioned group portrait showing three generations of his family. It depicts them in the library of their New York residence at 49 Park Avenue, on the northeast corner of 39th Street. Hatch is seated to the right at his desk, and his wife, the former Theodosia Ruggles (1829-1908), leans on the mantel. Other members of the family, including Theodosia's mother, Hatch's father, and their children are also present. Museum: Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, USA.

Copley painted Mrs. Bourne three years after her husband's death, when she was seventy-one years old. She holds a book in her lap and gazes toward the viewer with intelligence and good humor.
