The Art Gallery of Josephus Augustinus Brentano. Brentano had a picture collection comparable to that of Gildemeester, likewise located on the Herengracht in Amsterdam. He hung his paintings as symmetrically as possible. The painted pilasters from his gallery have been preserved and a few are also on display here. The visitors are mainly artists and art dealers looking at possible new acquisitions with the collector.

The Spendthrift or the Wasteful Woman, Act III, Scene V, from the play by Thomas Asselijn (Joanna and the Polish Jewish Traders). The 'spindle medal', scene from the third company, fifth stage, from the play of the same name by Thomas Asselijn: Johanna's Spindlezicht is discovered by her husband Gerardus and her father Augustijn, who had dressed up as Polish merchants (ouses). Johanna is in a room with a ceiling painting at a table that is full of all kinds of curiosities, Chinese porcelain, figurines and rolls of textiles. On the seat on the left there is a ring-tailed lodge, a cat has been driven under the cupboard.

Cnoll was married to a Eurasian woman, Cornelia van Nijenroode, who was the daughter of a Japanese woman and Cornelis van Nieuwroode, a VOC governor in Japan.

This painting from colonial Peru depicts the grounds of a country estate populated by privileged, peninsular Spaniards (people born in Spain) and members of the Creole elite (people of Spanish descent born in the Americas). They are accompanied by the Indigenous and African servants who dress, serve, and entertain them, thereby making the aristocrats leisure time possible. The unidentified artist completed this work in Lima, which was the capital of the Spanish Viceroyalty of Peru until that country gained its independence in the 1820s. While the white men wear suits fashionable at the time among cosmopolitan Europeans, their wealthy female counterparts dress in the characteristic native South American pollera ensemble, showing how the confluence of Indigenous and Spanish customs contributed to distinctive regional style
