Photos of late Renaissance interior (1570) with its curved moldings and ornamentation in the time between the Renaissance and Baroque. It is not as ornate as later Baroque interiors. Date: dated 1466.These teak doors consist of several decorative and epigraphic panels joined together and inset into a frame. The pair of square panels with geometric designs reflect carved Iranian woodwork of the fifteenth century. A cenotaph, dated 1473, now in the Museum of Art, Rhode Island School of Design, displays very similar designs and inscriptions. The scrolling vines framing the panels and on the vertical bar share qualities with wave motifs seen in Timurid ceramics (40.170.635), suggesting the possible circulation of designs across media. The rectangular inset panels contain inscriptions in naskhi script that provide important contextual details including the name of the patron, Davud ibn Ali Davud, and the artist, Ustad Muhammad, and that the doors were intended for a shrine. Purified Fragrance Studio late 19th-early 20th century Workshop of Jian Guzhai Chinese This ink tablet is from a sixty-four-tablet set (30.76.216-.279) commissioned by the Jiaqing emperor from the Studio for Appreciating the Antique (Jiangu Zhai) manufactory of the Wang Jinsheng family in Huizhou, Anhui Province. Each ink tablet commemorates a hall or pavilion in one of the imperial gardens. Each sites name is written in gilt characters on one side; a view of the site is presented on the other. German-born photographer and scholar Max Hutzel (1911-1988) photographed in Italy from the early 1960s until his death.
