Humble Petition and Advice 1657. English constitutional document making Oliver Cromwell king in all but name 1657. This was Englands second and last written constitution. It differed significantly from the Instrument in that it was drawn up by civilian parliamentarians rather than by army officers.

Lafayette Exhibition In Paris -- When the British and Lafayette were friends an appeal for funds was made in England in aid of the Frenchmen who suffered in the French Revolution. Those funds subscribed were to be handed to General Lafayette in Paris. A photograph of the Appeal which is being shown at the Lafayette Exhibition held at the Orangerie, Paris. August 06, 1934.

Landauer, Ambrose Heal, and others. The term trade card” is of nineteenth-century origin and refers to a card that advertises the services of an individual or business. Eighteenth-century trade cards were often printed on thin sheets of paper and referred to as tradesmen’s cards,” tradesmen’s bills,” or shopkeeper’s bills.” During the Victorian era, trade cards were often reinforced on pasteboard and closely resemble business cards today.. Robert Knox (1641-1720) was an English sea captain in the service of the British East India Company held captive in Ceylon from 1660-1679. 'An Historical Relation of the Island Ceylon together With somewhat Concerning Severall Remarkable passages of my life that hath hapned sic since my Deliverance out of Captivity' is a book written by the English trader and sailor in 1681. It describes his experiences some years earlier on the South Asian island now best known as Sri Lanka and provides one of the most important contemporary accounts of 17th century Ceylonese life. Knox spent 19 years on Ceylon after being taken prisoner by King Rajasimha II.
