Phra Bat Somdet Phra Poramintharamaha Chulalongkorn Phra Chunla Chom Klao Chao Yu Hua, or Rama V (20 September 1853 - 23 October 1910) was the fifth monarch of Siam under the House of Chakri. He is considered one of the greatest kings of Siam. His reign was characterized by the modernization of Siam, immense government and social reforms, and territorial cessions to the British Empire and French Indochina. As Siam was threatened by Western expansionism, Chulalongkorn, through his policies and acts, managed to save Siam from being colonized. All his reforms were dedicated to Siams insurance of survival in the midst of Western colonialism, so that Chulalongkorn earned the epithet Phra Piya Maharat - The Great Beloved King.

In the spring of 1621, Captain Standish and William Brewster came to a formal agreement, a treaty of friendship, with Massasoit, in a house that was just being built in Plymouth Colony at the time. They sat on the floor, on a green rug, and three or four cushions, as is depicted in this early 1890s illustration. The Pilgrims had come to the New World in 1620. .

Punishment by the chain: the chain was placed round the condemned man's neck and to this was attached a bamboo pole which at its other end was attached to a post in the ground. The man could sit, stand, or lie, but when standing had to support the weight of the bamboo, this was the general method of keeping ment sentenced to tow boats while they were not working. The Aceh War, also known as the Dutch War or the Infidel War (1873-1914), was an armed military conflict between the Sultanate of Aceh and the Netherlands which was triggered by discussions between representatives of Aceh and the United Kingdom in Singapore during early 1873. The war was part of a series of conflicts in the late 19th century that consolidated Dutch rule over modern-day Indonesia.

History of Spain. King Ferdinand VII swore in the Constitution of 1812, following Riego's pronouncement at Cabezas de San Juan in 1820. The news reached the Royalist Army in America. Baldomero Espartero (1793-1879), volunteer in this army between 1815 and 1825, held a banquet with all his officers and Baron Nordenflicht, who was conspiring along with some officers. Nordenflicht and some of those officers who were involved sought to leave. Those who remained protested loudly of their loyalty to the Spanish cause and their worthy leader. Engraving.
