The French coup d'état of 5 December 1851 was a self-coup staged by Prince Louis-Napoléon Bonaparte (at the time President of the French Second Republic). It ended in the successful dissolution of the French National Assembly and the subsequent re-establishment of the French Empire the next year. When he faced the prospect of having to leave office in 1852, Louis-Napoléon (nephew of Napoléon Bonaparte) staged the coup in order to stay in office and implement his reform programs

The Russian Military Deputation congratulating Emperor Wilhelm I of Germany (1797-1888) on the 70th anniversary of the Battle of Bar-sur-Aube (27 February 1814), with victory of the Russo-Bavarian coalition against Napoleon I during the 1814 campaigns. The ceremony was held on 27 February 1884. The German Emperor was accompanied by all the princes of the Imperial family and the Prussian field marshal Helmuth von Moltke (1800-1891). The Russian delegation was headed by the Grand Duke Michael Alexandrovich of Russia (1878-1918), youngest brother of the last Tsar Nicholas II, as well as Generals Iosif Gurko (1828-1901), Ivan Mikhailovich Obolensky (1853-1910), and Count Pyotr Andreyevich Shuvalov (1827-1889). The War of the Pacific or Saltpetre War. Armed conflict that pitted Chile against the allies of Bolivia and Peru. 1879-1883. Peru, Lima. Panoramic view from the fort of San Cristobal, occupied by Chilean troops since January 18, 1881. During the Lima campaign, one of the land phases of the War of the Pacific, President Nicolás de Piérola ordered the installation of cannons on the top of the hill in order to attack the Chilean army from there, at a time when it was believed that the army would advance from the north. However the Chileans did so from the south. This site was called by himself as "Ciudadela Piérola" and never went into action, being captured by the Chileans when they occupied the city. Engraving.
