The Nile Expedition (1884-1885). British mission commanded by Wolseley (1833-1913) to relief Major-General Charles George Gordon (1833-1885) at Khartoum, Sudan. Gordon had been sent to Sudan to help the Egyptians withdraw their garrisons after the British decided to abandon Sudan in the face of a rebellion led by Sudanese religious leader Muhammad Ahmad bin Abdullah bin Fahal, the self-proclaimed Mahdi. Klaas Klaassen Bedding and his both sons den 13 Jan.y from Durgerdam to Botvangst assumed, and after 14 days of turning on a ice shot in the Zuiderzee den 27 Jan, IJ 1849 in Vollenhove included. Klaas Klaassen embroidering and his two sons on an ice-shot of fourteen days on the Zuiderzee, 13-27 January 1849. The threesome had gone on the ice cream to catch fish with a sled but was surprised by suddenly incident thaw. They were saved at Vollenhove on 27 January.

Lithograph, published circa 1843, depicting Somers under sail, bound home from the African coast on 1 December 1842, after the hanging of three alleged mutineers. The men executed were: Midshipman Philip Spencer, Boatswain's Mate Samuel Cromwell and Seaman Elisha Small. The print shows two of them hanging from the yardarm.

Seizure of casks, with arms and ammunition, on board the Dublin steamer Windsor, 1870. 'The subject of our Illustration is the seizure of Fenian contraband arms on Friday, the 1st April, on board the Dublin and Holyhead steam-boat Windsor, at the moment of its arrival at the North Wall pier in Dublin. There were two casks or barrels, each packed with breech-loading rifles (twenty-five in all), directed to persons in the west of Ireland. A third cask, which contained revolvers and ammunition, was found on board the steamer Countess of Erne, arriving in the afternoon of the same day. The police
