'A grand procession of decorated barges from Whitehall to Limehouse', (1907). King George I desired a concert on the River Thames in London, and Handel composed his 'Water Music', a collection of orchestral movements, in response. It was first performed on 17 July 1717: 'A royal entertainment on the Thames was arranged, in which there was to be a grand procession of decorated barges from Whitehall to Limehouse.
