Charles Dickens (1812-1870) is one of the best known and most distinguished English novelists. He lived during the Victorian era. This engraving of sketches for Mr. Dombey (Dickens' novel Dombey and Son) by Browne appeared in Vol. II of John Forster's 1873 biography of Dickens. Hablot Knight Browne (H. K. Browne) was an English artist and known especially as the illustrator of Dickens' works.
