Viacheslav Aleksandrovich Malyshev (1902 - 1957) a leading figures of Soviet industry during the 1940s and 1950s. During the war, he served as People's Commissar of Heavy Machine Building since 1939 and Vice-Chairman of Council of People's Commissars since 1940. From 1941 he supervised Soviet tank industry, later he was responsible for shipbuilding and transport industry. He was elected Vice-Chairman of Council of Ministers of the Soviet Union twice, from 1947 to 1953 and again from 1954 to 1956. He was also appointed the first head of Ministry of Medium Machine Building, supervising the whole Soviet nuclear industry.

Nordahl Grieg - Nordahl Grieg, the famous Norwegian dramatist and poet, has been reported missing after taking part in one of the large raids on Berlin, just before Christmas. His death has now been confirmed by various papers of identification which have been found. He was born in Bergen, Norway, on Nov. 1, 1902 and during the war has been serving as a captain in the Norwegian Army. This is the last picture of Nordahl Grieg taken just before his departure. Mohammed Zahir Shah (15 October 1914 - 23 July 2007) was the last King of Afghanistan, reigning for four decades, from 1933 until he was ousted by a coup in 1973. Following his return from exile he was given the title 'Father of the Nation' in 2002 which he held until his death. Had he not been deposed in 1973, he would have reigned for a total of 73 years and he would have been one of the longest reigning monarchs of all time.
