This late 19th-century illustration shows Helen Campbell The caption reads: Yours sincerely, Helen Campbell. It was engraved from a photograph expressly for this work: A.D. Worthington & Co. Publishers. Hartford. Conn. Helen Stuart Campbell (died 1918) was a social reformer, as well as a social reformer, and pioneer in the home economics field. In 1882, she published her book that became quite well know - Problem of the Poor - which was based on her work with the poor in New York City slums, including McAuley's Water Street Mission.
