The two-day waterborne training evolution focused on safety and transport capabilities for both the Navy and Marine Corps and is part of a larger training plan to refine tactics and doctrine for amphibious operations. Makin Island is underway conducting routine operations in U.S. 3rd Fleet.

The U.S. Ambassador to Israel, James B. U.S. Air Forces in Europe airlifted 20 tons of fire retardant to Israel in a joint effort to provide humanitarian assistance combating the worst wildfires in the nation's history. U.S. European Command purchased the fire retardant and began the mission following an official request from the Israeli government for support.
