Wat Saket Ratcha Wora Maha Wihan (usually Wat Saket) dates back to the Ayutthaya era, when it was called Wat Sakae. King Rama I (1736 - 1809) or Buddha Yodfa Chulaloke renovated the temple and renamed it Wat Saket. The Golden Mount (Phu Khao Thong) is a steep hill inside the Wat Saket compound. It is not a natural outcrop, but an artificial hill built during the reign of Rama III (1787 - 1851) or King Jessadabodindra.

His tale is often connected with and/or included in The Thousand and One Nights, or the Arabian Nights. It is not one of the original tales but one included by the Frenchman Antoine Galland. Aladdin is a poor man in China who is recruited by a sorcerer named Mustapha. Mustapha wants Aladdin to retrieve a magic oil lamp from a cave, as seen here.

The Tacuinum (sometimes Taccuinum) Sanitatis is a medieval handbook on health and wellbeing, based on the Taqwim al-sihha ('Maintenance of Health'), an eleventh-century Arab medical treatise by Ibn Butlan of Baghdad. Ibn Butln was a Christian physician born in Baghdad and who died in 1068. He sets forth the six elements necessary to maintain daily health: food and drink, air and the environment, activity and rest, sleep and wakefulness, secretions and excretions of humours, changes or states of mind (happiness, anger, shame, etc). According to Ibn Butln, illnesses are the result of changes in the balance of some of these elements, therefore he recommended a life in harmony with nature in order to maintain or recover one’s health. Ibn Butln also teaches us to enjoy each season of the year, the consequences of each type of climate, wind and snow. Tyra Kleen, sometimes written Thyra, born 29 March 1874 in Stockholm, died in 1951, was a Swedish artist and writer. Her illustrations can be signed T.Kn. Balinese dance is a very ancient dance tradition that is a part of the religious and artistic expression among the Balinese people, native to Bali island, Indonesia. Balinese dance is dynamic, angular and intensely expressive. The Balinese dancers express the story of dance-drama through the whole bodily gestures; fingers, hands and body gestures to head and eyes movements. There is a great richness of dance forms and styles in Bali; and particularly notable are those ritualistic dance dramas which involve Rangda, the witch, and the great beast Barong. The Virgin of Guadalupe. Artist: Marsden Hartley (American, Lewiston, Maine 1877-1943 Ellsworth, Maine). Dimensions: 31 7/8 x 23 7/8 in. (81 x 60.6 cm). Date: ca. 1918-19.Not long after his return to the United States from Germany, Hartley ventured to New Mexico, where he became enamored of the Spanish Colonial, Mexican, and American Indian arts of the region. The Virgin of Guadalupe depicts a bulto, a small carved and painted religious statue. Hartley likely based the painting on a specific bulto of the Virgin Mary to which he had access. Artists and collectors were attracted to bultos because they seemed to be made by their (usually anonymous) creators with both directness and sincerity, qualities to which Hartley similarly aspired.
