The Adoration of the Magi. Artist: Nosadella (Giovanni Francesco Bezzi) (Italian, Bologna () ca. 1500-1571 Bologna). Dimensions: Overall: 14 5/16 x 9 5/8in. (36.4 x 24.4cm), maximum, with completed strip of paper at bottom border and upper corners cropped. Date: 1500-1571.This drawing was bought at the Pembroke sale in 1917 as by Lorenzo Sabbatini, although it was already listed in the Pembroke album with the correct attribution to Nosadella (see here "inscriptions" and "provenance"), an attribution that is also confirmed by the style and technique with washes of the study. The figure of Saint Matthew is seated conspicuously in the foreground and is aided in his writing by an attendant angel. Matthew's presence emphasizes the fact that the story of the visit of the Magi to the Christ Child is told only in the Gospel that bears his name. The drawing could therefore be a design for a representation of this subject painted in fresco on the walls of the choir of the church of Santa Maria

The Agony in the Garden, from The Passion of Christ 1597 Hendrick Goltzius Netherlandish Between 1596 and 1598 Goltzius engraved this series of twelve prints illustrating the Passion of Christ. They reflect the influence of the Netherlandish artist Lucas van Leyden, in both the figure types and the actual engraving technique. In contrast to his normal graphic style, which was characterized by a dramatic line that swells and tapers around the figures and background, here Goltzius uses thin even lines crossed with long straight hatching lines that are typically found in Lucass prints. In Northern Europe at the end of the sixteenth century there was a revival of interest in the works of Lucas and this series can be seen within that larger context. The Entombment 1725 Italy. The Transfiguration 1585-1595 Italy. Camillo Procaccini was the older brother of Giulio Cesare Procaccini, who worked in a sinuously Mannerist style, as seen in the Virgin and Child with Angels (1969.626). Yet Camillo used a sparer formal vocabulary in this depiction of a pivotal moment from Christís adulthood. Created at a similar scale as his brotherís painting, Camilloís print was the largest etching produced in Italy to that date. The artistís use of dotted lines allows Christís face to appear to dissolve as he unites with God the Father, casting a visionary blaze that temporarily blinds his apostles below.. Holy Family with the Infant Saint John the Baptist n.d. Hans Krumpper German This is one of the most finished and pictorial drawings by Hans Krumpper, who, at the Munich court of William V, Duke of Bavaria, was mainly active as a sculptor. In a lush landscape and surrounded by birds in the tree, the sky and on the river, the Holy Family shares an intimate moment with the young Saint John the Baptist carrying a lamb. A comparable drawing, representing the Virgin combing the Christ Childs hair in the presence of two angels, is at the Hamburger Kunsthalle, Hamburg (inv. 23678b). Monogrammed drawings displaying the same figure style - with plump features, round eyes, high foreheads, and curly hair - are found among those from the artists estate at the Münchner Stadmuseum, Munich (inv. 36/1892, 36/1893)..
